چکیده

Aim . This study aims to assess the association between iron deficiency (ID) and recurrences of atrial fibrillation (AF) in patients after pharmacological cardioversion with amiodarone within 12 months. Material methods The open-label, prospective, single-center included 198 non-valvular paroxysmal AF successful amiodarone. Group I 116 ID, group II — 82 normal status. primary end-point was development symptomatic months which estimated by Kaplan-Meier method. differences were considered statistically significant if p-value <0,05. Results Absolute ID found I; anemia revealed 85,3% patients. groups did not differ basic clinical demographical parameters, concomitant diseases drug therapy. Along that, older (the median 73 (64,8-79) years old 69 (63-75) old, respectively, р=0,008), their left ventricular mass larger 145 (115-176) g 132,5 (118,2-145) g, р=0,004). sinus rhythm restoration required less dose 450 (300-600) mg 1000 (600-1200) mg, р<0,001) time from start administration 7 (3-10) (9-18) hours, р<0,001). During 12-month follow-up period, 49 (42,2%) 16 (19,5%) developed (р=0,0008), hazard ratio 2,64 (95% confidence interval: 1,5-4,65) (р=0,0003). Conclusion is associated increase number

Giant P waves after pharmacological cardioversion of atrial fibrillation.

Propafenone, a class IC antidysrhythmic drug, is frequently used for pharmacological cardioversion of atrial fibrillation. Using IC antidysrhythmics to reverse recurrent atrial fibrillation is associated with a 3.5–20% incidence of atrial flutter with either ‘‘classical’’ or atypical patterns of atrial activation [1–3]. On the contrary, the appearance of peaked alternating with normal P waves i...

Pharmacological cardioversion for atrial fibrillation and flutter*

BACKGROUND Atrial fibrillation is the commonest cardiac dysrhythmia. It is associated with significant morbidity and mortality. There are two approaches to the management of atrial fibrillation: controlling the ventricular rate or converting to sinus rhythm in the expectation that this would abolish its adverse effects. OBJECTIVES To assess the effects of pharmacological cardioversion of atri...

Atrial Fibrillation Cycle Length and Atrial Size in Horses with and without Recurrence of Atrial Fibrillation after Electrical Cardioversion

BACKGROUND Atrial fibrillation (AF) cycle length (CL) and atrial size have been used in humans to characterize electrical and structural remodeling to predict outcome of cardioversion of AF and risk for AF recurrence (rAF). HYPOTHESIS Atrial fibrillation cycle length can be determined in horses with AF, and AFCL and atrial size are related to risk for rAF. ANIMALS Eighteen horses with natur...

Noninvasive Predictors of Atrial Fibrillation Early Recurrence After Electrical Cardioversion and their Link to Atrial Remodeling

Several clinical factors have been studied to predict atrial fibrillation (AF) recurrence after electrical cardioversion (ECV) with limited predictive value. In this work, several time-frequency parameters from the fibrillatory (f) waves characterization were studied to improve ECV outcome prediction at mid follow-up. By analyzing ECV outcome one month after the procedure of 63 persistent AF pa...
